Why must they be... so loud.
Within a certain area, there is an urban legend- a horrific monster, covered in eyes and teeth, prowls through the woods. Any who have tried to hunt it are killed or flee home while leaving their hunting partners to be devoured. This beast, unknown to most, is Kuru.
Kuru admittedly doesn't know what he is, even the small settlement of humans within the forest unsure of origins. He has a mostly humanoid figure, and certainly has intelligence equal to a human as the forest dwellers have taught him to read, write and speak. But no one has seen any other beings like him. Not that Kuru particularly cares for the answer, far too preoccupied with practicing his grammar or hunting his next meal to contemplate his existence.
Having spent the majority of his life by himself in the forest, only having been welcomed into the human settlement within his home when he was already grown, Kuru typically acts very animalistic, even if he understands that humans are not meant to. Does not have the same kind of morals those in polite society have, as he kills to survive and does not care what the creature he kills is- he is unlikely to go after humans due to risk of injury, but has no particular attachment towards them either way.
Despite what many believe, Kuru is not some horrendous monster hellbent on tearing the flesh from anyone who dares enter the forest- in fact, the forest is relatively safe to travel. The rumors about a monster only started because of the feeling of being watched, then when people began looking for the monster the slight glimpses of Kuru, and then got set in place when some assholes got it in their heads that they're some hero who will slay the beast and got rightfully mauled in response. Kuru would much rather stick to chasing birds and squirrels.
